newsgator+sharepoint=enterprise rss?

Courtesy of author Kristen Nicole at Mashable! (the Mentos of blogs – it’s the ‘Fresh-Maker’) comes this piece of enterprise 2.0 goodness … seems web 2.0 and the enterprise may finally be taking that tentative first step towards one another. And to prove the point, RSS darling NewsGator (my personal fav) has incorporated support for Microsoft Sharepoint, Among Other Upgrades.

NewsGator announced that the Social Sites add-on for its enterprise server edition, which allows employees to interact, share news, search for items, and generally keep up with what’s going on in the company,
will henceforth be available for business use. Also included in the launch is support for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 3.0. NewsGator also recently launched its Facebook application to allow non-enterprise users to sort of do the same thing (kind of).

News Flash … Google buys Jaiku … legal community confused

Ed. Note: I sense a great disturbance in the force … a million lawyers asking ‘what the hell does that mean?’
Google has shown us the future, and it is in moblogging, I mean microblogging, I mean smart phones … whatever. The search giant bought teeny weeny Twitter competitor Jaiku this week. What is Twitter? What is Jaiku? What the hell am I talking about? First take a look at this post, then read the breaking news on Twittown. Then take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning, because you’ve officially been outrun by technology used primarily by 12 year olds. Yeah … it’s like that.

10 more people-powered search engines

one of the things I try to capture in this blog is the technical advances and trends that will impact our profession. in this case I refer to people-powered search engines. I could go into detail about how better searches help clients, attorneys, judges … but that’s too obvious. so instead let me just present this update presented in this article to my recent post about new search engine Mahalo and list 10 other people-powered search sites (and 1 more that I haven’t mentioned before on the blog)

search widget for your website (cool)

pico is a search engine widget (a/k/a tool) that i read about in TechnoLawyer‘s newsire. it is not unique. there are any number of options available from the not so great ones that come bundled with your site to power tools like Google, and they can all search for the benefit of clients and visitors. but it looks like this tool was created with professionals in mind, maybe even lawyers, and could be better suited for us. only use will tell. so let me know if you try it.
later i will be talking about another website tool i’ve found recently designed to turn leads into potential clients. it’s called mylawfirmlive.
